I still have a long way to go when it comes to newborn photography. I've photographed babies a few times, but I have a lot to learn and I still find it very difficult. So, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to do a lifestyle newborn and family session. I thought it would be way easier than the typical shoots with the wrapped babies in baskets, with props and what not. Plus, I'm used to doing lifestyle portrait sessions anyways.
Well, it turns out lifestyle newborn photography has its own set of challenges! Things were definitely more unpredictable that in a studio session, and also happened way faster. However, there was magic in the spontaneity of the moments.
Here are some of my images from the session. Will I give up the controlled and carefully designed, studio newborn sessions, in exchange for the less complicated lifestyle type of photos? I'm still undecided.
